Enhance Your Self-Care Practice with a Jade Mask

There was a time that all I could see online were jade rollers. It was the ‘newest’ addition to our self-care routine that we didn’t know we needed. The depuffing and soothing benefits that it provides were just too good to pass up. So, naturally, when I found a version that required less muscle work, I jumped right on it.

Say hi to my new jade eye mask! It’s made out of the same stone as our roller but shaped like our average sleeping eye mask.

Empresses in China have used jade masks for thousands of years as it’s known for its healing and calming properties. It awakens the eye area and reduces eye bags. According to Ginger Chi, a beauty brand creating plant-based ginger infused skin and body care products, jade also helps emits healing energy into the liver, gallbladder, and kidneys. It also says healing the stressed organs slows the process of cell aging and helps detoxify the lymphatic system.

One of my favorite aspects of the jade mask is its coolness and heaviness. I specifically seek it during those days that my head needs extra love and attention. I suffer from migraines and the mask provides that comfort and ease I need. Its level of tranquility is truly incredible, making it very useful for when you want to meditate, relax, and calm the soul. Ginger Chi also mentions that jade’s coolness and heaviness helps relieve sinus issues.

Picture yourself after a long day, laying the cool mask over your eyes and taking a few long breaths to feel all the tension dissolve. It’s a nice look, right? The best part is that you decide when to remove it. You can have it on for as long as you see a fit. Another cool way to use the mask is to turn the mask upside down and lay over the mouth and jaw area to soothe lines and tension around these pent up areas.

The stone is naturally cool to the touch, but you can put the mask in the fridge for extra coolness. Its cool properties help to constrict blood vessels in the skin. If you prefer a warmer sensation, I’ve read the mask can also be used warm by soaking it in hot water for a few minutes.

Let the heaviness of the jade mask against your skin give you an amazingly relaxing sensation. Just lay back and relax, let the mask do the rest.
