How Exercising Empowers Me

Exercising is much more than just doing it to “look good.” Working out has empowered me in so many ways in my life. From boosting my self-confidence to feeling like a badass in the morning. After working out I feel like Superwoman. Definitely the adrenaline rush everyone should start their day with, especially if you are self-employed.

A year ago working out was not part of my lifestyle at all. I feel so happy to say that it does today! Fun Fact: at the end of December 2018 it will be year since I started working out consistently. This is a huge accomplishment for me! Prior to that, I always felt intimidated. More so like I didn’t belong at the gym. I was always afraid of losing weight and I already thought I was too skinny. So, adding the gym to the mix would make me disappear, right? Well, that’s what I thought. I have never felt more confident in my own skin than now. I love my body! Have I lost weight? Ahh no! Total opposite. I actually believe I gained a couple pounds haha.

As mentioned, exercising has boosted my confidence to a whole new level. Wearing a bikini and walking in a sport bra was always a struggle. Those reading might find this shocking.

I was so happy one-pieces were back in season because I was rocking them every time at the beach/pool. Now I look back and realize it was all in my head. Is my body really that much different? Mmm… a bit. Sure, I do have more muscles. I’m maybe a bit more toned, but not that big of a difference.

Do I feel lazy at times? Absolutely! I snooze my alarm at least once in the morning, but I still wake up. ClassPass has been one of my biggest motivators. Once you sign up for a class, you pretty much have to stick with it. If you cancel a class less than 12 hours in advance, you’ll be charged $15 per late cancel. Sometimes I tell myself in the morning “is this extra hour of sleep worth $15?” For a split second I say yes, then come to my senses and wake up. It might be worth the $15, but I know myself. If I do it once, I will keep doing it. Find what motivates you and keep at it!

Embrace your body and start adding the gym to your weekly routine. I honestly hope I never fall off the wagon, I love working out! I even see the difference in my productivity when I don’t wake up early to go to the gym. It’s impressive!
